Sprint family plans operate under the name of Sprint PCS Add-a-Phone. This is a great plan for families and small businesses because of the flexibility of adding up to 4 additional phones ($20 each). This is typical of most other family plans, but Sprint family plan has a few drawbacks. The main problem is the small coverage area, which makes it inconvient for frequent travellers, and the second problem is that there aren't many phones that are compatible with Sprint.

The advantage of going with Sprint is that the call quality is quite good since they own all their cell sites. So if you don't travel much and your area has Sprint's coverage you can count on strong and dependable cellular phone service.

In addition, Sprint PCS family plans have two categories: Sprint PCS Free & Clear Area Wide and Sprint PCS Free & Clear Nation Wide. Both categories of the their plans include unlimited nights, weekends and long distance. For an additional $5 upgrade the mobile-to-mobile feature can be added. This would let you save more minutes if you have lots of friends and family already using Sprint. The Area wide family plan offers better rates and more anytime minutes that the national wide plans, however, Nation wide family plans has no roaming charges.
