Review of AT&T Cell Phone Plans
With the recent merge with Cingular, AT&T
cell phone plans will now have a larger coverage area.
This is a very important factor when you're considering national
phone plans. You can take a look at AT&T's new coverage
here. AT&T's national plan has many different levels of
anytime minutes to choose from, ranging from 30 to 6000 minutes.
All of them include unlimited weekends and weeknights, free
long distance and no roaming charges. Unfortunately, none of
their national plans offer mobile-to-mobile minutes, but you
can upgrade that to 1000 minutes a month for $10 (for the GSM
National plan).
The difference between the GSM America National
and Digital One Rate plan is that they use different wireless
technologies. The first plan uses the new GSM network and the
latter uses the TDMA digital network. What’s the difference?
Basically, through a GSM network you will receive stronger reception
and have a greater coverage area. We recommend the using the
GSM network, as it is the network that is expanding quickly.
Although most of the newer phones are compatible with both networks,
you should check which network offers better service in your
area.
An important aspect that AT&T cell plans
can improve on is their customer service and inconsistent call
quality. So it's important to ask friends with personal experience
if the call quality using AT&T is good in your region. However,
they have the most attractive promotions, so if you were interested
in a phone plan with the best deals, AT&T would be the first
place you should look.
Overall Rating for this plan: 4/5
